I am a 52 year old woman moving into a new phase of life, as a reborn or therapy Baby Doll Artist! I make beautiful, realistic Reborn Art Dolls. All my babies start from a blank vinyl kit (head and limbs), then are then painted with many nearly translucent layers of Genesis heat set paint and baked to set the paint. There are a minimum of 25 layers of paint each so thin it's nearly impossible to see the color, so that they build up to a realistic skin tone. Once the skin is set, the small details like eyebrows, fingernails, and eyelashes are added. The vinyl head and limbs are sealed with matte varnish to ensure a lifetime of love, The limbs and head are attached to a doe suede body that is then stuffed and weighted to give the doll weight and the proper "flop" of a newborn. The head is weighted separately, so you MUST support the head or it will flop around. Different types of hair are used from bald babies, to hand drawn or painted hair to hand rooted hair, depending on the doll. All dolls will also have a magnet behind their lips (unless otherwise noted) and in the top of their heads (unless otherwise noted) for magnetic Pacifiers and Hairbow, respectively. These are NOT toys...and tthey are not suitable for children. They are works of art and as such must be ttreated with care and consideration. You can gently style their hair (Reese), change their clothes, carry and love them as you would any "baby". But they won't withstand rough play of most children. View more posts
